ABOUT
After graduating as top student from Wellington Polytechnic (with a type-focused thesis of interpretations of Beat generation writers), I worked on various projects with Len Cheeseman at Saatchi’s Wellington. I also worked in a number of design agencies. I had several exhibitions at a top Wellington gallery and completed Ideas School (NZ AWARD) before heading overseas.
I worked in the type departments of some of the great London agencies, styling ads with some of the world’s best typographers, including Roger Kennedy at Saatchi & Saatchi London.
The experience of working on creative where only the best would do – both creatively and technically – gave me a new perspective on advertising, plus the hunger to produce great work.
Since arriving in Australia, I joined DDB Sydney as Art Director where in a year and a half I created fourteen TVC’s and was lucky enough to spend six months partnered up with one of the creative directors. I then spent five years at Smart Sydney which joined forces with McCann. I have freelancing at The Monkeys JWT. Saatchi & Saatchi, Havas and Clemenger BBDO. I joined Naked Sydney and then relocated with them to Melbourne. Unfortunately Naked closed. Since then I have been freelancing from Melbourne at McCann Melbourne & Sydney, Leo Burnett, Icon and Weareunity.
Most advertising people find my work and experience interesting but what really seems to fascinate them is that I used to be a competitive powerlifter and set a New Zealand bench press record.
So if you want to talk to me about work or want some bench press tips, drop me a line.
